We've really been enjoying the latest Unit Editions title, National Theatre Posters: A Design History,
over the last couple of weeks. So it was with a real excitement, that we learned the news of an exhibition taking place at the Wolfson Gallery at the National Theatre.
Curated by Rick Poynor, this exhibition explores the evolution of poster design at the National Theatre, showcasing many classic examples.
From 1963 to the present day, each art director led the theatre’s graphic design studio in creating images for posters, programmes and now digital artwork. The exhibition features posters designed by Ken Briggs, Richard Bird, Michael Mayhew, Charlotte Wilkinson and current Creative Director Ollie Winser and the Graphic Design team.
The exhibition includes original posters, interviews with past and current Art or Creative Directors and traces the changes in process, design and function over the past 50 years.
If you are unable to get yourself down to the exhibition, an accompanying book titled National Theatre Posters: A Design History is available below through Counter-Print.
